We run campaigns to win real improvements in people’s lives. Together with our state board, leadership bodies, membership organizations, and individual activists, we’re taking bold action to respond to the needs of working Missourians. We have come together to raise wages, deliver healthcare, and protect our freedom to have a say in our democracy. From the streets to the ballot box, we are working for a Missouri that works for all of us – not just the wealthy few.
The initiative petition process is a trusted constitutional right that Missourians from across the political spectrum have used for more than 115 years. This democratic process allows Missourians from across our state to take power into our own hands and deliver for our communities when the Missouri legislature won’t take action.
Citizen-led initiatives improve the quality of life for many people in our state, and allow us to make laws that reflect the will of Missouri voters. Missourians have come together to raise the wage, expand Medicaid, legalize medical & recreational marijuana, limit lobbyist gifts, and stop Missouri from becoming a “right-to-work” state.
Now, some politicians are being bullies and sore losers. They are scheming to end majority rule and our freedom to have a direct voice in making laws. These politicians don’t want to respect the will of the people and are instead trying to grab power from Missouri voters.
Since 2019, Missouri Jobs with Justice Voter Action has been on the frontlines to protect our democracy from these dangerous attacks. For the past six legislative sessions, politicians have filed dozens and dozens of schemes all designed to trick voters, end majority rule, and grab power from everyday Missourians. We have successfully stopped these attacks every session with the help of hundreds of dedicated leaders who testify in Jefferson City, write letters to the editor, call voters, share their stories, and rally to defend democracy.
Hardworking Missourians often face impossible choices. Working parents decide between sending their children to school sick or losing a day’s pay because they don’t get paid sick days. Workers are forced to go to work sick, risking the health of their co-workers and customers, or sacrificing a much needed paycheck.
Missouri’s economy should reward hard work and not punish people for getting sick.
Missouri Jobs with Justice Voter Action launched the Missourians for Healthy Families and Fair Wages initiative to build an economy that works for working people. This initiative will help tens of thousands of Missouri parents and their children by allowing workers to earn up to seven paid sick days a year and gradually raise the minimum wage to $15/hour. When we come together to pass this initiative, hard-working Missourians will have the freedom to care for themselves and their families.
More than 210,000 Missourians from every county signed the petition to put Missourians for Healthy Families and Fair Wages on the 2024 Missouri ballot!
Now it’s our turn as voters to make this a reality. Pledge to vote YES to deliver paid sick days and fair wages to Missouri’s working families.
This ballot initiative will:

In our fight against corporate greed, we center the humanity of each and every worker. This includes their rights at work and their existence outside of work. In this, we seek alignment and affirmation from the board that we share the values of the AFL-CIO on the question of abortion; “All workers should have access to full health care, including reproductive health care, no matter where you live or work. Respecting the self determination of workers means respecting their ability to determine their reproductive freedom.”
Right now, Missouri has a total abortion ban. Pregnant people in Missouri can’t receive full reproductive care, even if their health is at risk.
This total abortion ban is an attack on our freedom to decide whether and when we grow our families.
The ability to decide when or whether to have a child is essential to the ability to pursue meaningful work and care for our families – not politicians in Jefferson City.
The Missourians for Constitutional Amendment will end Missouri’s total abortion ban and make sure Missourians and their families can make the decisions that are right for them.
